Frequently asked questions
What does Breadcrumbs Uncomplicated do?
It shows your customers complete category-based breadcrumbs on collection and product pages, so they always know where they are in your store. The breadcrumbs are built from the standard Shopify navigation menus you already maintain.
Is Breadcrumbs Uncomplicated good for SEO?
Yes. As well as the visible breadcrumb, it adds structured BreadcrumbList JSON-LD to collection and product pages, so search engines understand how your store is organised and can show breadcrumb paths in results.
Where do the breadcrumbs come from - do I need to build a new structure?
No. The app reads your existing standard Shopify Menus. There is no separate category tree to build - change your menus and the breadcrumbs follow.
Does it work on product pages as well as collections?
Yes, on both. Product pages work with both long-form URLs (/collections/.../products/...) and short-form URLs (/products/...). With long-form, the collection in the URL determines the breadcrumb directly. With short-form, the app picks one of the collections the product belongs to using the rule you choose in the Theme Editor (least-products, most-products, first, or last). The custom.default_collection_reference metafield is an optional per-product override for when the auto-pick isn’t the collection you want - it isn’t required.
Which themes are supported?
All modern Online Store 2.0 themes via drag-and-drop in the Shopify Theme Editor. Older 1.0 (“vintage”) themes are supported with an embed - see the Vintage themes guide.
Is it multilingual?
Yes, in two distinct ways. The app’s own admin interface (settings, labels, instructions) is available in English, Spanish, German and French. Separately, the breadcrumbs rendered on your storefront work with any language your store supports through Shopify Translate & Adapt - so a Japanese, Polish or any other store gets fully localized breadcrumbs, even though the app’s admin interface itself only ships in the four languages above.
How do I get it on my Shopify store?
Install it from the Shopify App Store - see the App Store listing for current pricing, plans and trial details, and to add it to your store with one click.
